I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jean Tribek and Alison Martin, the cheerful hosts of the Inside Wink podcast, for a heartfelt conversation about the themes of my new book, The Way of the Wave: Nature’s Model for Navigating Life’s Currents.

One of the conversations that stood out was about what I call acceptance conversations. These are the often uncomfortable but important exchanges we have with people who see the world differently—whether politically, spiritually, or even within our own families. We talked about how my chapter “Today’s Tidal Wave” was born out of the growing polarization I sensed before Covid.  I believe that learning to accept others as they are without contempt (even if we strongly disagree), be civil, seek common grounds, and examine the fears that underly many strongly held beliefs—theirs and ours—are necessary if we ever hope to bridge the Great Divide.

Key Moments & Takeaways

  • The inter-relationship between letting go and acceptance and why we need both

  • Why setting boundaries with kindness can lead to deeper relationships

  • How to move through life’s “lulls” with more peace, creativity, and trust

  • And why it’s important to see the “humanness” in others with opposing views

We even covered morning rituals, painting, pistachio ice cream, and my wife’s incredible one-woman show (Tragic Magic).

I’d be honored if you gave it a listen.

May you go with the Wave!

-Danny
